If you’ve ever searched for “how much does a personal stylist cost?” you’ve probably found a wide range of prices that doesn’t tell you much about what you might actually need.
That’s because there isn’t one standard price for personal styling. The cost depends on the type of service, how much support you need, whether we’re working in person or virtually, and how much time your wardrobe requires.
If you’re in Minneapolis or the Twin Cities and considering working with a personal stylist, here are the things I recommend thinking about before choosing a service.
Rather than focusing on a single number, I think it’s more helpful to look at what you’re actually paying for. Personal styling can range from a focused wardrobe session to a more comprehensive experience that includes wardrobe editing, shopping and outfit styling.
Here are a few of the biggest factors that can affect the overall investment.

The first question I would ask is: What are you hoping to accomplish with your wardrobe?
If you primarily want help editing your closet, understanding your personal style and identifying what’s missing, a Wardrobe Analysis may be the right place to start.
During a Wardrobe Analysis, I work with you to understand your style, edit your existing wardrobe and organize your closet around your lifestyle. We also identify gaps and create a shopping list of pieces that can help make your wardrobe feel more complete.
If your main goal is finding new pieces, Personal Shopping may make more sense. I can help you find pieces that fit your style, wardrobe needs and budget, whether we shop together or virtually.
For someone who wants a more comprehensive wardrobe transformation, Alexandra Eve also offers packages that combine wardrobe analysis, personal shopping and personal styling.
Every wardrobe is different.
A client who needs help editing a few pieces for a seasonal refresh may have very different needs from someone whose lifestyle, body, career or personal style has changed significantly.
Sometimes you simply need help making sense of what you already own. Other times, we need to identify wardrobe gaps, shop for new pieces and create outfits that work together.
That’s why I prefer to understand your goals before recommending a specific service. The more clearly we understand what you need, the easier it is to determine what kind of styling support makes sense.
Where you live and how you prefer to work can also affect the type of styling experience that’s right for you.
I’m based in the Twin Cities and work with clients throughout Minnesota and beyond. For clients outside the Twin Cities, virtual styling can be a convenient way to get personalized guidance without meeting in person.
The best option really depends on your goals, your location and how hands-on you want the experience to be.
This is an important distinction when you’re considering personal styling.
The investment in a stylist covers the styling service itself – my time, expertise and the work involved in helping you understand and build your wardrobe.
That is separate from any money you may choose to spend on clothing.
When shopping is part of your styling experience, I want to understand your clothing budget and make recommendations that fit your actual lifestyle and priorities. Finding beautiful pieces is important, but finding pieces that you’ll genuinely wear is even more important.
I think the better question is: What would you like your wardrobe to do for you?
For some people, the biggest benefit is finally understanding what works for their personal style.
For others, it’s having a closet that is easier to navigate, finding outfits more quickly, shopping with more intention or feeling confident about what they’re wearing.
And sometimes the problem isn’t that you need more clothes at all.
You may have a closet full of clothing and still feel like you have nothing to wear because the pieces don’t work well together, don’t fit your current lifestyle or simply don’t feel like you anymore.
That’s one of the reasons I love wardrobe analysis. Instead of immediately buying more, we can start by looking at what you already own and figuring out what is working, what isn’t and what your wardrobe actually needs.
For me, personal styling has never been about simply telling someone what clothes to buy.
It’s about helping you understand why something works for you.
That might mean looking at the fit of a garment, the color, the proportions, the way it works with the rest of your wardrobe or whether it actually suits your lifestyle.
I also don’t believe your personal style should come from following a one-size-fits-all list of wardrobe essentials or every new trend. Your style should feel like you. That philosophy has been part of how I approach styling from the beginning.
The goal isn’t to create a closet that looks perfect on someone else.
It’s to create a wardrobe that makes getting dressed feel easier, more enjoyable and more like yourself.
If you live in Minneapolis or anywhere else in Minnesota, your wardrobe has to work through some pretty significant seasonal changes.
We need pieces that can handle cold winters, changing temperatures, layering, warmer summers and everything in between.
That makes wardrobe planning more than simply finding clothes that look good together. Your clothing needs to work for your actual life and the weather you experience throughout the year.
As a Minnesota-based stylist, I love helping clients create wardrobes that feel personal while still being practical for the way they actually live.
There isn’t one number that applies to everyone.
The right investment depends on the type of styling support you need, the scope of your wardrobe project and whether you’re looking for a single service or more comprehensive support.
Instead of choosing a service based only on a price comparison, I recommend starting with your actual goal:
Do you need help editing your closet? Finding new pieces? Creating outfits? Understanding your personal style? Or transforming your wardrobe more comprehensively?
Once we understand that, it’s much easier to determine which styling experience is right for you.
If you’re considering working with a personal stylist in Minneapolis or elsewhere in Minnesota, I’d love to hear what you’re looking for.
You don’t need to have your wardrobe figured out before reaching out. Tell me what’s frustrating you, what you’d like to change and what you’re hoping to get from the experience, and we can talk through the best next step.
Or, if you’d rather start with a conversation about your specific needs:
I look forward to hearing about your style and helping you create a wardrobe that feels like you.
